Rules and Conditions of Entry

New for 2010 - Providing the work was executed between the qualifying dates there is now no restriction per entrant on the number of entries per category or the number of categories entered. However, each work may only be submitted to one category.

ELIGIBILITY
- Entries must have been published or broadcast between 28th March 2009 and 26th March 2010 in English.
- Entries must be in the English language. Entry forms either online or in print must be
completed in English.
- An entry may not be submitted to more than one category.
- If the entrant is nominated by a publisher, another person or organisation, they must have sought permission to do so from the nominee. You will be asked to confirm on the entry form that suitable permissions have been granted and we reserve the right to contact the entrant for verification.
- Category 2 (International Wine Columnist of the Year) all columns must be from a single publication.
- Category 3 (International Wine Book of the Year) books must be original works or have been substantially revised.
- Category 4 (Regional Wine Writer of the Year) is ONLY open to writers resident and writing in the UK regional press (including Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands).
EXECUTION OF ENTRIES
- Any work submitted which is incomplete will not be eligible. Emailed or faxed entries are not eligible. The LRIWWA does not guarantee the return of any work submitted.
- Categories 1,2,4,6,7 & 8: a minimum of two and a maximum of four examples permitted per category. One copy of each required. If shortlisted, entrants may be required to provide further hard copies.
- Categories 3 and 5 (Books and Publications) may only be submitted by post. See below for details please see below.
- Category 6 (International Wine Website of the Year) please provide the URL of the site and links to any relevant archive material.
- Category 7 (Online Wine Columnist/ Blogger of the Year) In the case of online articles please provide links to the relevant content. If the content is no longer live then hard copies may be uploaded together with contact details for the publisher. In the case of blogs, please provide the blog URL and links to archive content where possible.
- Category 9 (The Artistry of Wine Award) - a minimum of one and a maximum of four examples of photography or photographs of original art permitted. One copy of each required. If shortlisted, entrants may be required to provide further hard copies.
- Each entry must be submitted with an official entry form (which may be photocopied). A separate entry form must be attached for each category. Additional entry forms can be downloaded here.
- Category 3 Books: Eight original copies are required for each entry.
- Category 5 Publications: Eight original copies of a minimum of two and a maximum of four issues are required for each entry.
- Newspapers and magazine articles, CD-ROMs, DVDs and web pages: a minimum of two and a maximum of four examples permitted per category entry. Eight copies of each example are required. For newspapers and magazine articles, at least one original is required, the balance may be photocopies. For webpages please provide hard copies and URL at time of publication
- Imagery, art and photography: Minimum of one, maximum of four images, photographs or works of art. Please provide 8 high quality photographic prints.
- All entries, including books, articles, multimedia, images, CD-ROMs, videos and broadcasts should be submitted in their final published form.
Judging
- The closing date for entries is 26th March 2010, after which no entries will be considered.
- The rules may be varied at any time without reference to any party.
- No verbal or written correspondence pertaining to the Awards is permitted between Judges and entrants. Judges may recommend writers who may be contacted by the organisers and encouraged to submit.
- The winners will be chosen by the Judges, based on their joint judgement. The Judges' decision is final. Judges may be varied for any reason at any time by the LRIWWA without reference to anyone.
- If a Judge has contributed to any work entered, or there is a possible conflict of interest, they will not judge that entry.
- The Judges reserve the right to not award winners if the entries are not felt to merit it.
- A shortlist will be published prior to the presentations and the winners will be announced in September 2010.
